Communications blogs you should be following

The communications industry is constantly changing and there are always new ideas, views and discussions to be had. Which is why I try to follow as many bloggers within the industry. Here’s a few of my favourites, split into categories as they aren’t all PR.

(Some of the eagle eyed among you may have noticed that I did a similar post last November, but I’ve found lots of new favourites since then!)

PR

If you’re into fashion PR, you most certainly should be reading PR Couture’s posts. They have lots of posts about social media, fashion brands and a little bit of marketing too. And the posts are always so stylish.

For a more serious, analytical view on PR, check out The Holmes Report (a site I’m sure many of you have heard of). It includes global communications reports, profiles and interviews with those in the sector and research reports into trends in the industry.

Pretty in PR is a blog by PR student Sarah Abuharaz. I particularly love her PRospects series on her site!

Nat’s PR Scribbles is a blog by fellow PR student (and my competitor on the #bestPRblogs  shortlist too!) Nat’s blog covers everything from social media to research and is always a good read.

Prezly is also a great, charismatic read on all things PR. Their recent posts include stakeholder interactions, press releases and professional profiles.

Social Media

Need to know anything social media? Visit Social Media Today. And there’s not much more that I can say, it does exactly what it says on the tin!

For anything blogging related, including blogging events and #BlogHour, check out the UK Blog Awards own blog. I love seeing the variety of blogs that are out there through their posts.

Journalism

JournoLink is a great blog for posts on everything from social media to press releases to building relationships with journalists. It’s well worth a read for anyone in the comms industry.

A journalism blog I dip into every now and again is Pew Research Center Journalism & Media. It’s usually quite statistic heavy but very interesting, covering journalism, social media and anything digital.

Marketing

One that covers a little bit of everything is The Drum (and if you’re not reading it, why not!) With everything advertising, social media, digital and marketing, there is a lot that everyone in the industry can learn.

Another newsletter that falls regularly into my email inbox is from Marketing Week – a blog covering lots of different marketing topics and, although not PR, it’s still a very interesting read.

Got any more blogs that you think should be added to the list? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time…
